Player Profiles–#43–R.A. Dickey
When the Twins originally drafted R.A. Dickey, they thought he would be their next great pitcher. He posed on multiple magazine covers and photo shoots. Well, on one of the magazine covers, a Minnesota Twins doctor saw something wrong with R.A’s Arm. His pitching arm, too! Upon finding this out, the Twins hastily released Dickey. The Mets then came along, signed him, and did an analysis of what was wrong with his arm. Upon further inspection, it turns out he is missing a muscle in his arm. Now, normally something like this would be bad news, but it turns out this was very good news for Dickey. It turns out that this muscle was the one that causes Tommy John surgery. This is why R.A. Can throw up to 135 pitches and his arm wouldn’t be tired
